Alfred “Al” Carter believes the Thibodaux City Marshal’s Office should serve the courts and community with professionalism, efficiency, transparency, and integrity. His priorities reflect more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement, public administration, training, emergency response, and community service.
PROFESSIONAL COURT SERVICE
Al will prioritize the timely, accurate, and professional execution of warrants, subpoenas, writs, and other court orders entrusted to the Marshal’s Office.
Every interaction should be handled lawfully, respectfully, and with attention to public safety. The office must remain dependable, organized, and responsive to the needs of the City Court and the people it serves.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY
Public trust begins with responsible leadership. Al will work to establish clear policies, accurate records, effective supervision, and strong accountability throughout the Marshal’s Office.
He will promote responsible management of public resources and maintain open communication with the court, city officials, law-enforcement partners, and the community.
TRAINING AND PREPAREDNESS
Al believes every deputy marshal should receive appropriate and continuing professional training.
His administration will emphasize legal updates, ethics, effective communication, emergency response, de-escalation, community relations, and the safe execution of official duties. A well-trained team is essential to professional service and public confidence.
TECHNOLOGY & EFFICIENT OPERATIONS
Modern technology can improve accuracy, communication, recordkeeping, and accountability.
Al will evaluate the office’s systems and procedures to identify practical ways to improve case tracking, documentation, information security, scheduling, and the timely service of court documents.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS AND YOUTH OPPORTUNITY
Public safety is strongest when courts, law-enforcement agencies, schools, community organizations, faith leaders, and residents work together.
Al will encourage constructive partnerships that support prevention, education, youth opportunity, and stronger relationships between public-safety professionals and the community.
COORDINATION AND EMERGENCY READINESS
Al will strengthen cooperation with the City Court, Thibodaux Police Department, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, and other public-safety partners.
His emergency-management experience will help the Marshal’s Office remain prepared to assist during emergencies, severe weather, major events, and other situations requiring coordinated public service.
A COMMITMENT TO SERVE
Al’s priorities are guided by three principles:
EDUCATION — Building knowledge, preparation, and opportunity.
PROFESSIONALISM — Delivering dependable, respectful, and effective service.
INTEGRITY — Leading honestly, responsibly, and with accountability.
